We have been closely monitoring weather conditions and conferring with other local agencies and our operational staff. All D303 schools will be open and operating on a normal schedule tomorrow–Tuesday, Jan. 21. We anticipate and are working to ensure regular operations on our busing routes and in our school buildings. We encourage staff and families to dress for subzero temperatures. As always, families have the option of keeping their children home if they believe the weather is too cold to be outside.

In the 2023-2024 school year, St. Charles School District 303 served approximately 950 English Learners (ELs) from over 50 different native languages.
As is true for all District 303 students, the district goal is to assist its English Learners in meeting Illinois Learning Standards. At the same time, for English Learners, we also strive to develop a student's academic English language to meet the Illinois English Language Proficiency Standards. These standards address the academic and social aspects of language in the school setting and content areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Students must be proficient in academic English to be successful in school. Academic English is used in textbooks and classrooms, and it is the foundation of educational assessments.
