We have been closely monitoring weather conditions and conferring with other local agencies and our operational staff. All D303 schools will be open and operating on a normal schedule tomorrow–Tuesday, Jan. 21. We anticipate and are working to ensure regular operations on our busing routes and in our school buildings. We encourage staff and families to dress for subzero temperatures. As always, families have the option of keeping their children home if they believe the weather is too cold to be outside.
Third graders, ready set go!
There will be a continued focus on reading and writing as our students work on increasing their stamina and refining their use of reading strategies. Development of math problem solving and computation skills are also emphasized during this very important year. Our third graders have a really full curriculum as they study about countries around the world, get really geared up for their study of earthworms, and simulate what life was like in pioneer times!
Perhaps the most important part of third grade is developing life long learning skills that will be utilized throughout their educational endeavors. Although third grade can be rigorous, it is also an exciting and rewarding year. Thank you so much for sharing your children with us!
